Voice of Coffee

The voice of Vietnamese coffee.

VOC began with a simple wish, one that carried the weight of many years of reflection: for Vietnamese coffee to be recognized for what it is truly worth.

For a long time, we stayed behind the scenes. We were the producers, supplying coffee to markets at home and abroad. We know every breath of the roastery, and exactly how a green bean is nurtured, roasted, ground and finished before it reaches the person drinking it.

But as we watched the coffee we had poured our hearts into go out into the world under other names, we realized: we no longer wanted to work only behind the scenes.

We wanted to tell our own story. And so Voice of Coffee (VOC) was born.

One brand, two perspectives

The name Voice of Coffee comes from our wish to be the most honest “voice” of Vietnamese coffee. But that voice takes two very different forms:

  • To those in the trade, we are exacting.

We don’t want to be a brand that only says the flattering things customers want to hear. VOC speaks up to protect the true value of the coffee bean. When misconceptions take hold in the market, we use our knowledge and hands-on experience, from farm to roastery, to tell the truth. Not to argue, but to reset the standard for values that have been misunderstood.

  • But to those who drink it, we are simplicity itself.

We take every complex principle and technical debate and keep them tucked away in the roastery. When a cup of VOC is set on the table, everything returns to its simplest, most honest form. You don’t need to remember complicated terms or a long list of tasting notes on the bag to know it’s good.

Because in the end: good coffee is simply the cup that makes you want one more sip.

A handcrafted touch at production scale

Many people assume that large-scale production means everything is automated. At VOC, we chose a different path: the efficiency of a system, with the heart of a craft roastery.

We refuse to leave quality up to the machines.

  • 100% of VOC’s roasts are done by hand. Our roasters adjust every batch themselves, feeling the temperature and flavor as it develops, instead of relying on the automatic mode of an industrial roaster.
  • Every lot of green coffee we bring in goes through rigorous cupping.

We have the capacity and processes of a professional manufacturer, yet keep the dedication and care of artisans who love their craft.

  • 20+years alongside farmers
  • 8heritage coffee varieties genetically analyzed
  • 100%of roasts done by hand

How we roast and process

  1. Bean selection

Careful screening of green coffee that meets our standards, from everyday commercial grades to specialty lots.

  2. Sample roasting & cupping

Commercial or specialty, every lot of green coffee is sample-roasted and cupped for quality before production.

  3. Roasting

Every single batch is profiled by hand by our roasters. We never use automatic mode, for any product line.

  4. Packaging

Packed to preservation standards, so every product reaches you with its freshness and original flavor intact.

Our mission: elevate and preserve a heritage

Whether we are repositioning the market or going deep into research, everything VOC does serves a single purpose: to prove the true value of Vietnamese coffee.

1. Restoring Vietnamese Robusta and Arabica to their rightful place

Robusta has long been ranked below Arabica and dismissed as the cheap option. We don’t believe that. A coffee bean is not worth less simply because it is Robusta. We believe that when it is grown in the right place, cared for properly and roasted with understanding, Robusta stands as an equal to Arabica. Vietnamese Arabica, too, is more than capable of taking the international stage on the strength of its own quality.

2. Two decades rooted with farmers, preserving heritage varieties

VOC’s bond with the growing regions is about more than buying coffee. Since the 2000s, our roaster has traveled the length of Vietnam’s coffee map. Those journeys were not only to study the original varieties, but to work shoulder to shoulder with farmers, sharing knowledge and helping them improve their growing techniques.

Because we believe great coffee cannot be separated from the hands that tend it. VOC wants to change how Vietnamese farmers are seen: not as silent laborers behind the harvest, but as true artisans of their own land. Only when a farmer’s skill is respected and elevated can the value of the coffee bean be complete, from the roots up.

Over those years, as the market chased volume and many farmers were forced to cut down high-quality varieties and replace them with easier-to-grow plants, we saw clearly the risk of losing a heritage. VOC’s team of experts traveled the growing regions, collected 8 heritage coffee varieties and sent them to South Korea for genetic analysis at a leading plant genetics research institute.

The results showed: Vietnam’s Moka and Yellow Bourbon are genetically very close to the original varieties.

This is more than a scientific report. It is hard evidence that Vietnam holds some of the world’s most precious coffee heritage. VOC is committed to being part of the journey to preserve and develop that heritage.

From Vietnam, to the world

VOC began with a deep love for Cau Dat, for coffee trees passed down through generations, and for the farmers who steadfastly protect the land and the forest.

We want to build a brand that people think of first when they talk about high-quality Vietnamese coffee.

And more than that, we want any Vietnamese person who holds up a bag of VOC to share with friends from abroad to be able to say, clearly and proudly:

“This is Vietnamese coffee.”

Robusta is not a second-rate choice; it carries a value all its own.
Vietnamese coffee doesn’t need long explanations to prove how good it is.
It doesn’t need to hide behind the name of any other country.

It simply shares, with confidence, the best of what is ours.
That is why we exist.
